APOMA Board Members


Listed below are the current 2011-2012 APOMA board members. Most members are elected for two-year terms and are chosen by their peers to represent the APOMA organization. Contact information for each board member is also included.


APOMA PRESIDENT-

Jay Kumler, is president of Jenoptik Optical Systems, Inc. which has manufacturing facilities in Jupiter, FL, Easthampton, MA and Huntsville, AL. JENOPTIK designs and fabricates precision optical components, microlenses, camera lenses and projection lenses. JENOPTIK Optical Systems, Inc. is a subsidiary of Jenoptik AG. Jay currently serves on the board of APOMA, and serves on the SPIE board of directors as the chair of the SPIE Corporate and Exhibitor Committee. Jay has served as technical co-chairman of Optifab 2007, 2009 and in 2011.


PAST PRESIDENT-
Colin "Cody" Green, is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for PFG Optics   located in Ocean Springs Mississippi. Cody has over 30 years of experience in the optics industry.

PRESIDENT ELECT-
Richard Nasca, is Finishing Technology Leader for Corning Incorporated. He is a master optician and a subject matter expert in all fields of optical fabrication for over 25 years. He is currently a corporate board member of APOMA and has been on the planning committee of the two highly successful APOMA Workshops

TREASURER-
Walt Czajkowski, is Vice President of Manufacturing for Edmund Optics. Walt is a past president of APOMA and has served as APOMA Treasurer for several years.

SECRETARY-
Robert Novak, is Professor Emeritus of the Optical Systems Technologies department at Monroe Community College located in Rochester, NY. Bob has served as the APOMA Secretary for several years.


CORPORATE BOARD MEMBER DIRECTORS-
James Sydor, is the President of Stefan Sydor Optics Inc. located in Rochester, NY. Jim has been an active member of APOMA for the last ten years and has been on the planning committee for Optifab and the APOMA workshops.

Chris Ghio, is the Director of Sales for Ohara Corporation, a supplier of optical glass, fused silica and IR materials. He has over 15 years experience in the optical glass, ceramic insulator and glass-to-metal sealing industries. Educational background includes a Bachelors of Science in Ceramic Engineering from Rutgers College of Engineering along with a MBA from SUNY Binghamton.

ASSOCIATE BOARD MEMBER DIRECTOR-
Justin J. Mahanna, is the Director of Field Applications Engineering for Universal Photonics, a global manufacturer and distributor of optical surface preparation materials. With over 15 years of diverse polishing experience, Justin has been involved all aspects of the business from hands-on manufacturing, to supporting the highest technology applications being performed by world leaders in optics.

ACADEMIC MEMBER DIRECTOR-
Marty Valente, is currently Director of the Optical Fabrication and Engineering Facility at the University of Arizona College of Optical Sciences.
